Title: Losing A Day
Losing a Day
Ever lost a day? You know the kind of day that you piddled away, were sick or slept in. It’s a little strange to look back on the week and discover that you allowed 24 hours to go without productivity. I had a day like that this week. I was really down with my diverticulitis. I attempted to exit the bed Monday morning but just couldn’t make it happen. I attempted again mid morning but alas it was not to be. During the lunch hour, I dressed and prepared to get to the office….but ended up back in the bed. How frustrating! However, there is an endearing quality to being shut down occasionally. I have found that in those times, I cease to be self-dependent. I become somewhat helpless and then I turn to the Lord in authentic need not glib religious exercise. I find that in the midst of helplessness…there is God. It has always been funny to me that self-reliance tends to slowly push God out. And, helplessness brings about an intimate dependence on God. So the next time you lose a day…maybe you’ll find God.
