Title: A New Posture
A New Posture
I have had an interesting year. I’ve been sick for most of it and have undergone a surgery and am now under treatment for my colon that appears to be working. It’s interesting to face moments when you cease to be in control. It’s also difficult to stay still in order to heal. I hate being still…but alas things have changed.
My illness has afforded me growing moments that I didn’t request. It has caused me to assume a new posture. This new posture has very little to do with a straight back and everything to do with stillness. I have discovered that a quieted and stilled soul is an assured soul. I’ve learned that an unexamined life is one not worth living. When I’ve been forced to be still, I’ve been forced to examine my life in stillness. It is frightening…and life changing.
We don’t’ naturally stop and examine. We don’t naturally assume the posture of stillness. It’s a part of our DNA to run quickly from moment to moment and then sink into the bed at night in utter exhaustion…no pauses, no slowing.
Could we covenant together to assume a new posture? Can we be still and know He’s God? Can we learn this lesson before it’s forced on us?
