Title: RETHINKING CHURCH: HOMEWORD WORSHIP

RETHINKING CHURCH: HOMEWORD WORSHIP

For several years now, I have been challenged by the Spirit of God to consider reconsidering church. I believe the highest and best way for us to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to keep the family together much like the early synagogue and Temple worship. I have read and pursued the Scriptures for wisdom on faith formation that sticks. Studies have shown that we are reaching some adults but that most Christians meet Christ before the age of 18. Also, we have now discovered that 60-90% of students graduating high school will leave the church and now their departures are becoming more permanent. We have invested in age, gender, and situational divisions and yet the Gospel hasn’t grown in decades in the United States. With this in mind, I am going to begin an experiment. This experiment will be a Saturday night worship experience that focuses on helping church go home. I will begin it on February 5th at 6pm. We will meet the first Saturday of the month, once a month through June and then reevaluate. It will be contemporary and relevant for families and individuals. It is focused on keeping families, homes together and then giving them opportunities to talk through the message further immediately following the service. This will help homes worship and also give many who love the contemporary experience a chance to worship with their whole family. Pray for this venture. I believe the Lord is in it.
